Patricia Shiplett is a full-time artist who welcomes everyone to visit her at her metal shop at 1303 Fletcher Rd in Saskatoon. She has completed 4 years of sculpture at the University of Saskatchewan and plans to continue studying fine art at the university until the age of 90. "Flight of the Dragonflies" began as a university project with the construct of altering an architecutral form so as to fool the eye or create an optical illusion, ( this is known as "Trompe l'oeil" ). In this case a lace curtain synomous with feminine beautification and a warm nurturing environment is made out of hard cold-rolled steel. The soft billowing effect of the folds as well as the spiritual imagery of the dragonfly coupled with the rich streams of color of blue and purple create an overall sense of tranquility. Patricia Shiplett's work can be seen at Rouge Gallery in Saskatoon, Tu Gallery in Edmonton and now the Oilfield Gallery in Lloydminster. She wishes to extend an invitation to all of you to join her in May for her solo show at the Rouge Gallery. | |||||||||
